Video

Two years ago a State Yearbook was found in our archives, in it were all the portraits of state commanders up until 1957. A video was made at the time but did not have a complete list of Commanders. This year the State Historian Fred Shacklett scanned the remaining Commanders and a video was made by Post 105. The following video is a complete list of State Commanders up to 2023.

American Legion Riders, Chapter 105

A true collection of brave souls and warm hearts! Chapter 105 has become the backbone of the Post. The members of Chapter 105 have given their all, again.

The Chapter raised and donated $10,000 for charities, including: American Red Cross, Tongan Relief Fund, Ukrainian Relief Fund, Turkish Earthquake Relief Fund, Fisher House - Palo Alto, Palo Alto VA Suicide Prevention, Paws For Purple Hearts and Wreaths Across America, .

They have supported the Berkeley and Oakland Marathons, San Francisco Marathon, U.S. Volunteers, Honor Flights, organized a Car Show for American Legion Post 105 in their missions and Ceremonies at the Golden National Cemetery. They volunteered 3,000 hours to the community, traveled 12,400 miles on 152 missions and they did this rain or shine

We truly owe them a debt of gratitude!

State of the POst 2022-2023

American Legion Post 105 Family (Legionnaires, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders) is proud to support our Veterans and Redwood City Community. We support the Four Pillars of the organization, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism and Children & Youth. We have been working closely with the San Mateo County Veterans Service Office to education those Veterans in our community on the benefits they’ve earned and are entitled to.

Our Auxiliary supports Veterans via meal donations to the VA, educate youths on Veteran issues, and engage multiple community partners in fulfilling our mission of service. On a weekly basis, our Sons & Riders fulfill the solemn ceremony of commemorating veterans’ during memorial services; they donate hundreds of hours and thousands of miles each year to honor our veterans in their journey to Post Everlasting.

This past year our Post assisted the San Mateo County Blue Star Moms in their care package & distribution to local Veterans & active duty soldiers, participated in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, marched in the 4th of July Parade (with a BBQ at the Post after), and hosted the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Courthouse Square in Redwood City. We adopted the Long-Term Care unit at the Menlo Park VA Hospital and prepared BBQ lunches for them at the facility. We took cards and gifts to the Veterans on Easter, sponsored a VA Fourth of July Lunch, and donated Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas ham dinners for homeless Veterans at the VA in Menlo Park. We shared our facility to our members and community to hold fundraisers for international events. We hosted an annual Suicide Prevention Run with proceeds benefiting the Suicide Prevention Program at the VA Palo Alto Hospital.

Post 105 holds monthly meetings with guest speakers to inform our Veterans of what other organizations are doing. We coordinate fundraisers with other Veterans organizations to raise funds for disasters relief. We partner with our local Police Departments to assist with their CYO projects, we provided back-to-school supplies for students in our community and work with our local schools to share our facilities for their after school activities. We host & support our local little leaguers, welcome the Boys and Girls Scouts troops in our community, and recognize their Eagle Scouts with certificates & our Post coin. We partner with the US Marine Corps 23d Regiment on the Toy 4 Tots program.

Our love for our Veterans and Community is shown by the actions of our American Legion Post 105 Family members and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
